Hey, so I've noticed around the wiki there are some pictures here and there that are very low quality.  The ones you can tell that were gotten from a cropping a screen shot.  In this blog I would like to show you how to get images directly from the game files.  This gives you the default images and maximum resolution on a transparent background so you won't have to mess around with trying the crop it perfectly.  This will mainly be used for icons as they are saved in a format you can easily acess.  You can probably crack into the bin files for a whole plethera of goodies, but that's much more advanced and I don't want to mess with that for now.

For this you're going to need a program that can open .tga files.  These are images files, but they aren't a type that can be uploaded to the wiki.  I recommend paint.NET, a free, much more indepth alternative to MS Paint.  By default Skyforge is installed on your C: drive in its own special folder.  If that's where yours is installed you need to navigate to C:\MyGames\skyforge_mycom\data\Packs.  This is where all the game data is stored.  There are several files you're interested in.

  • Visual.Interface.1.pak
  • Visual.Interface.1.w.pak
  • Visual.Interface.2.pak
  • Visual.Interface.pak
  • Visual.Interface.w.pak

You can open a file with the .pak extenstion with any compression program like WinRAR or 7-Zip.  Once inside you will navigate to /Visual/Interface/Icons.  From here you will either see .tga files folders or both.  Use the folder names to try and find whatever you're looking for.  For example all the class's ability and talent icons are in Visual.Interface.1.pak /Visual/Interface/Icons/Spells/<class name>  There are also some misc. icons in the same path in other .pak files i.e. the Cryomancers movement abilities and talents.

Once you've found the files you want double-click it and it should open in, if you installed the program to open this file type by default.  From here you just need to go to "Save as" and change the "Save as file type" to .png.  Congradulation you now have the stock image that you can upload to the wiki.

If you have any questions or edits I should make leave me a message. Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day.
